Contractors, I have a plumbing problem?

Question by Caroline: Contractors, I have a plumbing problem?
I had a leak detection service come out today and he said that I have a hot water leak under the sink. He put tape on the kitchen and dining room floor in certain areas where I assume the pipes are, and he turned off the hot water on the water heater in the garage until we can get a plumber to come fix the leak.

I am still getting a sauna of warm moist air coming from the cabinets beneath my sink. There should not be any more warmth coming from the cabinets with the hot water shut off, and it has been shut off now for eight hours.

What did he miss? There has to be something else going on. I am still having to open the cabinets to let out the warm, moist air.

the broken hot water line under the concrete has saturated the sand and earth. this ground will stay warm for quite some time. there is no air under your floor and no place for the heat to dissipate. it will gradually cool. use a fan under the kitchen sink cabinet to help move the hot moist air out. a dehumidifier will also help with the moist air. contact your homeowners insurance company. they will cover damage caused by the broken pipe. they will not cover the actual plumbing repair though. have them send out an adjuster before opening up any floors for the repairs. they can assist you with clean up options and floor repair.
